National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 10% of the proceeds from ticket sales and 100% of the proceeds from our Silent Art Auction at our October 30th home bout will be donated to help in the fight against breast cancer. The ladies of NOtown Roller Derby made and decorated bust molds which will be on display at Fresno’s Art Hop on October 7th at La Luna Loca’s Crazy Moon Studios. They will later be on display and up for auction at our home bout on October 30th at the Fresno Fairgrounds.

Additionally, throughout October we will be posting facts about breast cancer on our Facebook in a hope to raise awareness. Please visit our Facebook page, NOtown Roller Derby

Want to play roller derby? NOtown Roller Derby always accepts new skaters!

New members are placed on our “Fresh Meat” team, which practices on Tuesdays from 7:30 – 9:30* p.m. All “Fresh Meat” members are required to participate in one of our six-week Basic Training Boot Camps, offered four times a year. Boot Camps are conducted on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 – 9:00* p.m. After completing the Boot Camp, and successfully passing minimum skill assessments, “Fresh Meat” members will be drafted onto one of the three NOtown home teams (Fulton Maulers, Shaw Shankers, Huntington blvd. Harlots).

*Times and dates are subject to change

Members (skaters) must meet the following minimum requirements:

Female
18 Years of age or older
Sign and accept Waiver & Release of Liability, Attendance Policy, and Bylaws

Required equipment and gear includes:

Quad Roller Skates
Helmet
Mouth Guard
Wrist Guards
Elbow Pads
Knee Pads

Additionally, monthly membership dues apply.

“Fulton Maulers” Win FresYES Cup

In a hard fought and close battle between the three NOtown home teams (Fulton Maulers, Shaw Shankers, and the Huntington blvd. Harlots) on August 28th the “Fulton Maulers” went 3 for 3 and took the first annual FresYES Cup!

NOtown’s FresYES Fest was a tremendous showcase of roller derby at it’s finest. It was a great pleasure to debut our home teams in front of over 800 screaming fans! Fresno really does have the best fans.

If you want to see more of NOtown’s home teams come out to Cary Park (4750 N. Fresno Street, Fresno, CA) on Saturday, September 25th at 3:00 p.m. to watch the Shaw Shankers vs. the Huntington blvd. Harlots, for FREE! BYOLawn Chair! Scrimmages at the park will be every other month and are open to the public for free.

And don’t forget, Saturday, October 30th will be the LAST HOME BOUT OF THE SEASON! The NOtown All Stars and Starlettes will take on our sister-team (and rival) the Vtown Derby Dames and Darlins. Check back for more information.
